Bonus Audio Lesson: THEN WHAT
WHAT, YOU’RE LEAVING?
No. I’m not disappearing. I understand that some of you may have questions, or need additional guidance, encouragement, or even resources to continue on your path to selling more by doing less.
I truly believe you got this. But just in case you don’t have as much confidence in yourself as I do, here’s some reassurance:
You’re not alone.
THERE’S SAFETY IN NUMBERS. POWER, TOO.
Whether you’re building a small business, a 7-Figure Small, or a book of business as a member of a larger firm or organization, it can be a lonely feeling. Insulation from erstwhile supportive colleagues, board members, confidantes and mentors can feel more like isolation. I know…I’ve been there.
As a result, you’ll start to harbor notions of doubt. Am I doing this right? Is there more to learn? Have times changed? Am I missing something obvious?
“It’s lonely at the top” is a cliche for a reason. Because it’s true. When you’re where the bucks stops, or if you’re in a position of “you eat what you kill,” as partners are in most law firms and other professional services organizations are, you need to resist this nagging feeling that you’re operating in a vacuum, or doing this all on your own.
You’re not alone.
In fact, there are millions of entrepreneurs, book builders and startups out there in precisely the shoes you’re filling on the path your walking. Find them. Connect with them. Create peer groups out of them. Collaborate with them, network with them, build a mutually symbiotic support system, whatever that looks like for you and your business.
Not only is there much-needed “safety” in numbers that come from a support system like that, there’s enormous power as well.
If you need a case in point, here’s some recommended reading: #Networked: How 20 Women Lawyers Overcame the Confines of COVID-19 Social Distancing to Create Connections, Cultivate Community, & Build Businesses in the Midst of a Global Pandemic.
But wait. There’s more…
RECOMMENDED RESOURCES
Some of you are lawyers, accountants, consultants, insurance reps and other professionals in charge of building their own books of business.
Others are small business owners, be they startups, freelance gigs, or small employers looking to grow and scale.
Some of you may be even pre-revenue: just thinking about turning that side hustle into an actual business.
Whoever you are, I have something for everyone.
For Service Professionals: Chances are, your personal “Where” ended up being “LinkedIn.” Good work. If you feel like you need to enhance your LinkedIn prowess to the point of mastery, and you want to network with other like-minded service professionals who want to meet each other, support each other, learn from each other, collaborate with each other, and refer opportunities to each other, I can’t recommend highly enough joining the Thought Leader Collaborative. Created specifically with you in mind, and your unique challenges and opportunities, this is the place for you. It’s one part training, one part community. And all parts transformative.
For Sole Proprietors Building a 7-Figure Small: Brian Clark’s Future Freedom program is amazing. I’m in no way part of his organization, but I am a member/client. That’s how I can vouch for it. It’s another membership community and learning/training environment, but specifically for those who want to build a 7-figure small business with no investors and no employees. That’s my jam. If it’s yours, look into that.
For Startups and Entrepreneurs: The group for you is the ”The Mighty Underdogs” small business builders group. Similar to the Thought Leader Collaborative, it’s equal parts training for small business owners on everything they need to learn to scale their businesses, coupled with peer support, networking and collaboration. Membership is currently closed. But sign up here to get on the waiting list for when enrollment opens.
For Dreamers and Schemers: If you’re thinking of turning your dream or side hustle into a real business, I have the path for you. Gino Wickman, best-selling author of Traction, founder of EOS - The Entrepreneurial Operating System, and now author of The Entrepreneurial Leap, has an excellent program to help you 1.) discover if you have the six essential traits to be a successful entrepreneur, then 2.) discover what type of business is perfect for you, then 3.) walks you through a process to put the plan on paper for a successful launch. It’s all available at E-Leap.com. And once you’re up and running, a place to find a mentor at no cost is where I started my mentoring volunteerism: SCORE.
There’s gotta be something in that bag of goodies for you.
But find your people. They will give you the strength you’ll need to muster some day when challenges inevitably arise. They’ll challenge you to go further than you think you’re capable of. They’ll bring fresh ideas and perspectives to your challenges and opportunities. And they’ll keep you growing, both professionally and personally. Heck, they may even send you a referral from time to time.
it’s time to say goodbye.
With that, I leave you to your own devices, confident that I’ve given you access to a proven process to help you grow your business…by doing less, but selling more.
Of course, I’m never more than a click away. Connect with me on LinkedIn.
And if you get stuck, click around on the site you’re on now. We’re here to help. Whether you’re looking to Do It Yourself, have it Done For You, or want to learn something new because you Don’t Know How, we’re available for whatever you need.

And I hope our paths will cross again.
See you next time.
